Why use Solar Tracking System?

The cost of photovoltaic power generation has fallen by 90% over the past decade. With the iteration of materials, sizes and technologies, the photovoltaic industry has now begun to enter the "parity era". Looking ahead, further improving efficiency remains a core requirement for PV companies.

For a long time, the iteration of the photovoltaic industry has mainly occurred in the links of silicon wafers and batteries. In fact, in addition to these two major links, photovoltaic modules still have a lot of room for cost reduction.

Photovoltaic brackets, as the name suggests, are racks used to fix photovoltaic modules. It is mainly responsible for protecting photovoltaic modules from damage from external factors such as strong winds. Therefore, sturdiness is its most important product attribute. But in reality, this seemingly simple stand also has room for an upgrade.

The light intensity directly determines the efficiency of the module. In order to maximize the power generation efficiency of the modules, traditional fixed brackets generally choose an installation inclination to better absorb sunlight, and this inclination often chooses the angle with the strongest light intensity in a year. Usually this angle cannot be adjusted, or can only be adjusted manually according to the seasonal changes of light, which is time-consuming and laborious.

Although the traditional fixed bracket chooses the seemingly optimal angle, in fact, the sun changes in real time, and it is difficult for the components to fully absorb the light. The optimal angle is only relative, and most of the time, the power generation efficiency of photovoltaic modules will be affected.

In nature, sunflowers get their name because their flowers always face the sun. Inspired by this, the industry began to introduce tracking brackets to solve the problem of component light absorption. The tracking bracket can track the movement of the sun in real time through angle adjustment, and always make the components face the best angle of the sun, thereby improving the power generation efficiency.

Different from the simple structure of the fixed bracket, if the tracking bracket is to realize the function of tracking sunlight in real time, it is necessary to increase the driving system and the control system.

The control system acts as the "brain" of the tracking stent, sending commands to the drive system to control the real-time orientation of the stent. After the control system captures the "command", it needs to complete the adjustment of the orientation and angle of the bracket.

Tracking brackets make brackets less of an adornment, but a key part of improving the efficiency of your components.

According to the different structure, the tracking bracket can be divided into two types: single-axis and double-axis. A single axis can only rotate in one plane. According to the angle of the rotation axis, it can be divided into a single flat axis and a single oblique axis. Only the inclination angle of the light can be made as small as possible. The tilt angle always allows the component to absorb the strongest light.

Although the dual-axis tracking bracket works best, the bracket needs to be strong enough in addition to rotation. The current technology is immature and the cost is high. In contrast, the single-axis tracking bracket is more cost-effective and is the most mature planar single-axis tracking bracket. On the basis of only increasing the investment by about 10%, an efficiency improvement of 25% can be achieved, which is the mainstream solution in the industry. .

Due to the need to take into account stability and rotation characteristics, the threshold for tracking brackets is higher, and it also provides more possibilities for industry changes.

Looking at the global market, tracking stents show a very obvious differentiation pattern.

In mature markets represented by the United States, the penetration rate of tracking stents is relatively high, close to 80%; in the domestic market, tracking stents are still in their infancy, and the current market penetration rate is less than 20%.

On the whole, the actual installed capacity of global rail support in 2020 is about 35.8GW. Based on the global PV installed capacity of 81GW in that year, the actual penetration rate of tracking brackets is about 44.2%. In general, the tracking bracket is still in the early stage of industrial development, and there is still a lot of room for improvement.
