China identifies 2.83 GW of solar PV projects under Golden Sun Program

On December 11th, 2012 China's Ministry of Commerce announced that it will allocate USD 1.1 billion to support a new round of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects under the nation's Golden Sun Program.

This is in addition to USD 960 million that the government allocated to projects in the first half of 2012. Dozens of companies have been identified to develop 2.83 GW of projects in 33 provinces under this new round, with Yingli Green Energy Holding Company (Baoding, China) taking the largest share at 288 MW of projects in multiple provinces.

374 MW of projects in Jiangsu Province

Singyes Solar Technology Holding Ltd. was awarded two 30 MW projects in Hunan and Shaanxi Provinces, and ten other companies including ReneSola Ltd. (Shanghai, China) were awarded 30 MW projects in various provinces.

By province, Jiangsu has the largest share at 374 MW, followed by Hunan at 285 MW, Zhejiang at 242 MW and Shandong province at 225 MW.
