India's antidumping agency has launched an antidumping investigation against solar cells from China Mainland, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia and United States, according to information on the official webstie of Chinese Commerce Ministry.

The authority said that it has received an application from local solar manufacturing companies, asking them to start investigating solar cells made in China, Malaysia and the US.

About 90 percent of the solar panels made in China are for export. Europe and the US are the major destinations.

Li Hui, a researcher with Essence Securities, once said that if India decides to launch an anti-dumping probe, it will have a limited effect on Chinese companies because India is not a major market.
